LDAO is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a relative density of 0.98 at 20°C. It is readily soluble in water and polar organic solvents, while only slightly soluble in non-polar organic solvents.
In aqueous solutions, it exhibits non-ionic or cationic characteristics depending on the pH value. When the pH is below 7, it presents cationic properties. As an amine oxide, LDAO offers excellent detergency and produces abundant, stable foam. Its melting point ranges from 132 to 133°C.
